I'll be releasing a new cluster of limited edition prints shortly, and here is a preview of one of them, in a (slightly lurid) green colourway as an alternative to a more varied one which you can see here.

It's been a while since I've talked about tunes and there was some absolutely cracking music released last year, so I thought I'd briefly list my favourite albums of 2014, so here you are:

Clinton Fearon - Goodness - without question one of my all-time favourites.  Utterly brilliant LP
Dubmatix - In Dub
Decapitated - Blood Mantra (face it, death metal's great)
Crowbar - Symmetry in Black
Martha Tilston - The Sea
Fagin's Reject - Dirty Protest
(Hujaboy - Ancient Memories/Fractured EP/Whisper EP - not an album but Hujaboy's on fire at the moment and put out some absolutely storming EPs last year).
Also really loved some fine EPs from the likes of Don Fe, The Skints, Akasha Experience, Fungus Funk & Quanta.  Bonza.

Best films of last year for me were Grand Budapest Hotel and Inside Llewyn Davis and my favourite book was The Martian by Andy Weir.

Crikey!  Time to show this blog some attention... almost a year since my last post, shameful!  Well it's been a very very busy year, had lots of exciting projects of all kinds on the go and subsequently got a bit behind with various other things.  But, as things are shifting down a gear a little it seems like a good time to post some work up.  I'll start with a bunch of recent personal projects in a somewhat abstract fashion - hope you enjoy having a look.

I had a good spell of life drawing sessions recently but haven't been able to go for a little while - nice to look over some of the drawings again in the interim and get them uploaded.  I'm also going to sell some as prints at the upcoming ART SCHISM FIRST BIRTHDAY!  Very exciting - our little gallery/shop in Brighton that opened as a pop-up last December has now been going for a year, so we're filling the place up with new stock and a new show for Christmas.  So there'll be a preview this coming Friday - do come down if you can!  It's 6-9:30pm and we have lots of lovely ale kindly supplied by the excellent Dark Star Brewery, as well as the genuinely amazing illusionist Joe Marni and various other treats in store.  And then onwards!  Yes indeed, after-partyrama, down at the Blind Tiger Club - all kinds of live art, drawing, performance, films, projections, DJs going on and heaps more.  Tickets are £3 but you get a free shot from our lovely sponsors Licor 43.  So all in all quite a fun night is in store  - come and throw some shapes.

Plenty going on down at Art Schism at the moment as well - Petrusco's show is coming to an end, before we have the excellent Mark Hooley showing new work for two weeks, then a 'Monsters' themed group show for one week starting on Halloween closely followed by BRAG.  It gets even more exciting after that so I will keep you posted!  It's open every day so head down and check out some awesome work.

It's Autumn!  Hooray!  I bloody love Autumn, for so many reasons.  Tis kinda like the start of the new illustration year for one thing, with all the opportunities and exciting projects which that entails (not to mention the AOI Illustration Awards show, and all the other exhibitions that are happening at the moment), plus the new academic year of course, which in somewhere like Brighton heralds a glut of gigs (looking forward to Martha Tilston, The Staves, Resonators, Belleruche & Babyhead), concerts, festivals, club nights, exhibitions and culture of all kinds... and then there's all the food, and foraging opportunities, the turning of the leaves, the change in the air, the rugby, bonfires, books, walks.....

Two exhibitions worth mentioning that I've recently visited are the Jon Burgerman show at Brighton's Ink_d Gallery and the MA Illustration/Sequential Design at the University of Brighton.  The former is quite a scoop for the town (as is the Jan Svankmajer one that's just opened at the university - can't wait to go and have a nice long look at that) and was great to check out, although I have to say, like a lot of illustration/illustrators, the work doesn't always translate brilliantly to an exhibition/standalone format without an anchoring context, and dare I say it, some of it looked a little rushed (Posca pens on watercolour paper) in order to turn out a (pretty expensive!) product.  I think my favourite thing there was his wallpaper - works brilliantly.  Ink_d's always good for a little browse too and I especially enjoyed having a good nose at Sarah Shaw's canvases.

The MA show was the best I'd seen it in years - with some great invention, wide variety and some excellent drawing and painting (as well as modelling and wooden engineering!) skill on display.  Wish I could have spent longer in there to lose myself in some of the stories.

So new season - new stuff!  There's a bunch of fresh updates over on my website you could check out, plus I've finally got myself a Facebook page for my business, as well as an Etsy shop.  Terribly exciting (and yet more things to log in to, update, comment on etc etc....).  Which reminds me, must dash and update all the other ones.....

Cripes, about time I updated with summat eh.... Well, with the exciting new season nicely underway and having rounded off a glorious Summer with a fantastic little holiday in Devon and Cornwall, how about some snaps from said trip?  Splendid.  Few more pon Flickr should you fancy a nose.

Evening.... a more substantial post will follow shortly, but for now I just wanted to post this - I've finally recorded a new mix (it's all done on laptops these days don't you know... loving Traktor...), featuring some absolutely sublime music from across Africa (but mostly from Zimbabwe, as you won't be surprised to learn if you're a regular reader of this blog).  Check it out if you fancy - the music's incredible.  I hope you like artwork too - enjoyed making it.
